Hello Linda,
It seems that when you open the pdf files they are opening from Metro (Win 8 feature) and not the desktop. Since ActivInspire is annotating the desktop, once you open the pdf in Metro the desktop annotate feature will disappear. We will do some further testing but it seems if you install Adobe reader to view your pdf's and launch it on your desktop, you should then be able to annotate over them. (case# 297840)
