Dedra,

Thank you for this note and we appreciate your feedback which I've added to 249151.

Kindly see below our stance regarding Promethean software and iPads.

The popular demand for an iPad/tablet version of ActivInspire is understandable with the growing number of educators using tablets in conjunction with their Interactive Whiteboards in the classroom. It is Promethean's belief that replicating ActivInspire on an iPad will fail to meet the broad expectations set by the desktop version. While The iPad is optimized for consuming content or fulfilling a specific use case, it’s screen size and ergonomics limit the array of content types, actions and constraints available when creating a flipchart that is inherent in the desktop version of ActivInspire. Additionally, the iPad has technical limitations that make existing features like desktop annotate, embedding flash media, and running ActivExpression or ActivEngage sessions impossible.

Promethean does recognize that tablets are very much a part of the modern classroom and have made significant investments in research & development in this area. Efforts are focused on leveraging the behavioral dynamics of the tablet to share content between students, teachers, and interactive devices, enhancing current pedagogy and teacher productivity. The soon-to-be-launched Promethean ActivEngage 2.0 application is a good early example of how ActivInspire might work within a connected classroom.

Over the coming months there will be further developments and product deliveries to optimize tablet devices and software for enhanced pedagogy, student collaboration, teacher and learner productivity, and interactivity.

Thank you!
