My site has received 75 Promethean activeboard touch88 boards with version 3.06 firmware, along with EST P1 projectors. when I install the activespire software to a computer with just the onboard video (intel)everything works as advertised. However if I install the same software on a computer equipped with an addon card that either has two video outputs,(dvi/analog or dual analog, both ATI or NVidia), the touch aspect of the board does not function. I see the red lights react when a pen or finger breaks the beams, however there is no reaction on the board, ie. the mouse will not move nor any button will react. it behaves like a non-touch board. I have noticed that if the drivers of said card are not installed and the video card is using generic Microsoft vga drivers (where the two outputs are showing a cloned video image)the touch board responds to touch commands. once the correct drivers for the video card are installed the board becomes ....dumb. :( If I then attaché a laptop to the same board, the touch returns. my only conclusion is that the software of the promethean touch enabled boards is not compatible with dual output video drivers. the simple solution would be to remove the dual output cards, but then it defeats the classroom purpose of having two video enabled screens, one of them being touch enabled. Plus that would involve removing the cards from over 90% of the rooms the Prometheans were installed in. If there is a patch or work-around could that please be posted?
