It is a different version. I have the "free version" at home and I believe the computer at school is a licensed version. Regardless, I have always been able to use the camera feature with no problem. In addition, my home computer utilizes Windows 7 operating system and I am not sure what operating system is used at school, however, I do know that it is Windows as well. I am having trouble taking a snapshot of just a flipchart, webpage, picture on only my home computer. My computer in school works fine.
