In a similar way, you can. Instead in choosing “Media” from the insert menu, choose “Link” instead and “File” in the sub-menu which appears. Browse to and choose the file to be accessed by this link. In the dialog box that appears next, you can choose to add that link to the page as a line of text, a generic Image Icon, an Action Object, or a placeholder image which can be either the generic one used for the Image Icon or any other image you choose at the bottom of that window. You can set the link to be on an object already on the page, as well.
