I have read some of the licensing threads here, but wanted to clarify a couple of points relevant to my school.
With ActivPrimary licensing was a little more relaxed, allowing us to install the software on all computers in the school and on teacher laptops to prepare lessons at home. With this in mind we have imaged all our computers with ActivPrimary and were under the impression that when ActivInspire was released we were able to install this on any machine with ActivPrimary installed... so we added ActivInspire to our image. As ActivInspire has a 5 installation per licence, this means we can install the software on 55 machines, but we have 63. For 90% of the time only the computers connected to IWBs use ActivInspire, with some use by teachers on other machines during planning periods. Having ActivInspire on a whole school image, means we have the flexibility to swap out machines if there is an issue, or if we want to have an on site training session we have enough computers for all staff to access simultaneously.
Q: Are we ok to include ActivInspire as part of our image on 63 machines?
Secondly, we are currently investigating the possibility of replacing our IWB's and projectors with 55" touch screen monitors. It is unlikely to happen any time soon due to the prohibitive costs, but our Headteacher is keen to go down this path at some point.
Q: Do we need to acquire additional licensing for using ActivInspire on non-Promethean displays, or can we continue as we are currently?
