The flipchart files from earlier versions will have the extension .flp

The .ap2 files should be able to be viewed through the Resource Browser in ActivInspire - they can't be 'opened' - instead you Insert them into a flipchart, either by dragging the file onto the flipchart page OR selecting "Insert into flipchart' from the little menu with the object in the Browser pane

If you disconnect the VGA cable from the computer and select Menu from the remote, does the image look OK?

Remy,

Are you on a Windows or Mac computer? What version, XP, Vista, 7 or 10.5, 10.6 etc? Please also ensure that Adobe Flash 11 is up to date. If on a Windows computer, try clearing your temp folder and restart the computer. If someone logs onto your computer under their username, does the same issue occur? (case# 236500)

Ana,

Yes, the file is saved to a flashdrive. Other files are fine. The issue occured again this morning - it may have more to do with the computer being left on overnight and something with our network. If she cancels the "replaced with blank page message"  and closes the file without saving the file is left intact and able to be reopened without issues. Would there be any problem you can think of with leaving the files open overnight?

So, I upgraded to AI 1.7xx after weeks of being reminded the update was available. All went well. I wanted to see if  the Help files were substantially changed. They seem to be unchanged…since 2009?

One of 2 possibilities seems likely: 1. There have been no changes have been made since then. 2. My upgrade did not come with new Help files.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I work in an elementary school. We're trying to create illustrations of division problems. Example: We'd like to divide 10 circles into 5 boxes. I know we can contain specific objects, so that each box will contain only certain circles, but I'd like for ANY circle to be able to go into ANY box, but I'd like for each box to be able to hold ONLY TWO circles. Can anyone tell me if this is possible, and if yes, HOW? : )

Amey,

We do not believe that leaving the flipchart open overnight would cause an issue. The teacher may not want to leave programs open overnight since some school networks perform system updates and such over night. Generally, when we see the "replaced with blank page message" it indicates that there is data on the flipchart that is corrupt. they may want to try and select File/ Save As, rename the flipchart and save it to her desktop for example and see if it opens properly that way.

If you do not see the ActivManager icon on the Toolbar by the time, where the Airport and other icons are displayed, select Applications/ Promethean/ ActivDriver/ double click on activmgr, the icon should appear on the toolbar, once it appears select it and you should see an option for Flashbridge, select it and select Quit. If you are still having issues, please provide the ActivDriver version you have installed. (case# 237010)

Noel,

Before updating the ActivHub firmware, you want to ensure that the ActivDriver is up to date. The latest version is 5.8.46. If the ActivDriver is up to date you can update the ActivHub firmware by saving the file linked below preferably to the desktop (it seems easier to access from there).(case# 237170)

Select ActivManager/ Control Panel/ Hardware tab/ highlight Hub

Upgrade/ File/ Load/ guide the upgrade were you saved the file/ OK

You will be prompted "Are you sure you want to change the firmware on the device"?

Once updated, select ActivManager/ Control Panel/ Hardware tab/ highlight Hub/ RESET

Ray,

Are you downloading ActivInspire 1.7 from Planet or are you updating the software via the Help/ Check for Updates?

If you download ActivInspire from Planet, the latest driver comes included. If you are updating the software via the Help/ Check for Updates, you will need to manually, uninstall the previous driver before installing the new driver.

We do not recommend updating the firmware on the ActivBoard unless there is an issue. If you are having an issue with an ActivBoard, please contact Technical Support via the web form on the knowledge base at www.prometheankb.com, select your region/language, Interactive Displays, Contact Us. In the Existing case field input case number:237190.

I have installed and uninstalled ActivInspire on my computer three times now and just installed it for the fourth time. Every time I follow the steps and am ready to put in my serial number when it requests it in the Promethean License Agreement box. I have never seen this box, but have a free upgrade to Professional with the ActivBoard in my classroom. How do I upgrade to Professional from within the Personal edition that did install on my computer?

Ana is right but sometimes there is a work around that looks about the same but is slightly different. Post the flipchart here and I would be glad to take a look at it so I know exactly what you are trying to do.

Vaida,

Try resetting your profiles and see if that helps. To do this with the software open select Edit/ Profiles and select the white icon with 2 red arrows going in a circle. It seems that after the update the software is not looking where the templates are saved and resetting them should help. Close out of the software and reopen to see if the templates are available in Question Manager. (case# 237328)
