Paul,
1. We were able to move the object without the marquee handles popping up if we did not double click on it and in made a change in our Profiles. To try this, select Edit > Profiles > Settings tab > Design Mode > uncheck the box that states "Disable actions and drag a copy". Select Done, close out of the software and when you reopen you should be able to do what you are describing.
2. If you are attempting to change the circle to a rectangle, you can select the marquee icon to Edit Shape Points. If we have misunderstood what you are attempting to do, apologies and please re describe. (case# 254023)
